Slick Ponytail: Get the Look

First blog of February and we are starting the month off strong with one of the looks we all know and love!

The slick ponytail is a go-to for so many of us and through trial and error I compiled some methods that help keep fly-aways down and your hair in place.

Using a Smoothing Brush

Boar bristle styling brushes are soft brushes that I have found to be key in getting rid of the small bumps that are easily accentuated in a more slick back hairstyle. With the help of some styling products they can make a big difference in how your look comes out!

You can find these brushes at Ulta, Walmart, Sephora- almost anywhere- and for a relatively low price.

Another alternative to this type of brush is using a clean, spare toothbrush that you might already have. It will do the same for your fly aways and it is easy to take with you for hair touch ups through out the day if necessary!

Styling Products

Keeping flyaways down can be difficult and using gel has been one of my favorite ways to solve this problem. Other methods to try are smoothing the hair down with a little bit of hairspray or I have also seen people use hair mousse or wax stick products made for keeping baby hairs in place.

Rubber Bands

If you have thick and heavy hair keeping your ponytail from falling might be a challenge. Finding a rubber band to securely hold your hair in place can be an easy switch and make a big difference.

The Goody Forever Elastics are my favorite to use and they do a great job at keeping tight hairstyles from falling or moving around throughout the day.

Having Fun with your Ponytail

Once you have the ponytail nice and secure there are so many ways to keep this hairstyle fun by doing variations of it. Doing a bubble braid, a tight bun, or a normal braid are just some of the many ways to style the ends.

Also, for sports events or any festivities this hairstyle can be a great base for adding hair glitter, ribbon, gems, or colored hair spray!
